Screening of Boycott

27 Oct 2022

Announced by the University of Pittsburgh:

There are two screenings of this film:
October 27 @ 3pm
October 30 @12:45pm

Boycott follows the stories of a news publisher, an attorney and a speech therapist, who, when forced to choose between their jobs and their political beliefs, launch legal battles that expose an attack on freedom of speech across America. The film traces the impact of state legislation passed in 33 states – including Pennsylvania – designed to penalize individuals and companies that choose to boycott Israel due to its human rights record. A legal thriller with “accidental plaintiffs” at the center of the story, Boycott is a bracing look at the far-reaching implications of anti-boycott legislation and an inspiring tale of everyday Americans standing up to protect our rights in an age of shifting politics and threats to freedom of speech.

Our film's story is becoming increasingly more urgent. Earlier today, the ACLU petitioned the Supreme Court to review one of the cases profiled in our film, in an effort to reaffirm the right to boycott in America. Meanwhile, copy-cat bills targeting our right to boycott the fossil fuels and weapons industries continue to take root in states across the country. With the right to express our political views hanging in the balance, we hope you will join us for an upcoming screening and help us sound the alarm by spreading the word among your family and friends.

If you aren’t able to join us in Philly, we hope to see you soon as we continue screening Boycott to communities across Pennsylvania. If you’re interested in bringing the film to your community, please email events@justvision.org.
