Healthcare Crisis in Gaza

Drs. Abughnaim and Khan will share their experiences, the stories of the patients and Palestinian colleagues, and their view on advocating for humanity and justice.

"Tammy Abughnaim is a board-certified Emergency Physician in Illinois who recently returned from a medical mission in Gaza through the WHO Emergency Medical Teams initiative. Her clinical focuses include social emergency medicine, point of care ultrasound utilization in low-resource settings, and health equity. She is an active member of the Chicago chapter of HCW4P where she utilizes her background in grassroots youth organizing to amplify Palestinian voices."

Dr. Yasser Khan is an Oculoplastic Ophthalmologist, trained through McMaster University and the University of Toronto. Dr. Khan has traveled to 40+ countries for philanthropic and academic endeavours, actively involved in the training of international Ophthalmologists in the field of oculoplastics and has traveled internationally to lecture. He is on active surgical staff at 6 hospitals and also Medical Director of the Carrot Eye Surgery Clinic. He is the founder and CEO of The Global Initiative for Vision and Empowerment (GIVE), is a non-profit organization based out of Mississauga, Canada aimed to eliminate preventable blindness worldwide. He has presented on Democracy Now and CBC.
