The MESA Global Academy in partnership with the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies and Arabic and Islamic Studies at Georgetown University, are pleased to welcome Dr. Mansour Al-Maswari and Dr. Nadia Al-Sakkaf for a virtual event.

Experts will cover Yemen’s socio-political landscape since the “Arab Spring” in 2010, examining the factors leading to the state’s failure and subsequent cycles of violence. They will also discuss the future of rebuilding the country, taking into account the significant brain drain caused by the conflict and the role of Yemen’s diaspora in this process. This discussion will be moderated by CCAS professor Dr. Noureddine Jebnoun.

Mansour Al-Maswari is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Columbia Global Centers-Amman. He also serves as a faculty member in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Amran University, Yemen, and is an English news writer at Al Bawaba News.

Nadia A. Al-Sakkaf is a Yemeni researcher with expertise in media and digital safety, gender, sustainable development and socio-economic policies, democratic transitions, and climate change. Post availing a PhD in Political Sciences from Reading University, Al-Sakkaf now works as an independent researcher or through the 21 Century Forum, a UK-based non-profit organization she co-founded.
