Ismail Fajrie Alatas, to present on the Muslim pilgrims on pious journeys to visit the tombs of Muslim saints scattered around Java. Mr. Alatas will present his research on the process of history-making that enable sites to become popular pilgrimage destinations. Comprehending these dynamics in turn provides a contextual glimpse into the various negotiations that constitute the formation of Islamic spiritual authority.
