Silencing Palestinian Voices: Symposium on Human Rights

Sahar Francis, since 2006, Sahar has been the General Director of Ramallah-based Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, a Palestinian NGO providing legal and advocacy support to Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli and Palestinian prisons. An attorney by training, she joined the association in 1998, first as a human rights lawyer, then as head of the Legal Unit. With over sixteen years of human rights experience, including human rights counseling and representation, Ms. Francis also was on the Board of Defence for Children International – Palestine Section for four years, and currently sits on the Board of the Union of Agricultural Work Committees.

Fuad Abu Saif, Fuad holds an MA in sustainable development and agriculture-plant protection. Through his work as a human rights defender and a leader and developer of hundreds of agricultural programs, initiatives, and coalitions, he has contributed to the development of the agricultural sector through empowering farmers’ steadfastness and sovereignty over resources within a sustainable community based on emancipation development.

Dr. Osamah Khalil, Associate Professor of History at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He is the author of America’s Dream Palace: Middle East Expertise and the Rise of the National Security State (Harvard University Press, 2016) and the editor of United States Relations with China and Iran: Toward the Asian Century (Bloomsbury Press, 2019). Khalil is a frequent media commentator and contributor for local, national, and international media outlets.
