City of Asylum annually honors an international writer or artist who has overcome efforts to limit their creative freedom. This year they will honor Iranian singer and songwriter Mahsah Vahdat, a renowned world music performer and vocal advocate for freedom of expression for musicans and composers. Mahsa left her native Iran because of the restrictions placed on female performers by the Iranian government.

Following a cocktail reception and dinner from their restaurant partner Brugge on North, Mahsa will be joined on stage by author and poet Sholeh Wolpé for a short reading and conversation, and by harpist Bridget Kibbey for a musical performance.

Tickets for this event are $500, and can be purchased online using the link above. Free valet parking is included with your ticket. We hope you’ll join us for this special evening of music, conversation, and community.
