Bassel & The Supernaturals tells the story of Bassel Almadani's experience as a first generation Syrian-American—using soulful melodies and a funky style, deeply inspired by Otis Reading, and using captivating lyrics of love, loss, and the war in Syria.

The group is also deeply values driven, dedicated to building awareness and empathy for Syrian refugees. A substantial portion of their proceeds benefit the Karam Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization focused on building a better future for Syria.

Bassel & The Supernaturals join us from their home-base venue in Chicago, in a concert recorded just for City of Asylum. The band also joins us for a live q&a after the show.

We think this program is a direct tie to City of Asylum's commitment to building a just community by protecting and celebrating freedom of expression. Plus it's an evening of spectacular music and good grooves.
