Come join us for this public lecture presented by the Islamicate Studies Working Group at the University of Pittsburgh, and featuring Cemil Aydin, Professor of History at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
Come join the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh in hosting Sheikh Suhaib Webb for a discussion on leadership. Sheikh Suhaib Webb is a contemporary American Muslim Imam, thought leader, and educator. The evening will begin with dinner at 5:30 PM, followed by Isha at 6:45 PM, and concluding with his lecture starting at 7:00 PM.
Mariah Idrissi is an international model and public speaker promoting modest fashion and female empowerment. She has been interviewed by national and international news and radio stations such as CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera. She has also been featured in high fashion magazines worldwide such as Marie Claire, Teen Vogue and Grazia.

Ambassador Thomas Pickering served more than four decades as a U.S. diplomat. He last served as under secretary of state for political affairs, the third highest post in the U.S. State Department. Pickering also served as ambassador to the United Nations, the Russian Federation, India, Israel, and Jordan, and holds the personal rank of Career Ambassador. The Ambassador will speak on the current threats to the Iran deal and their possible outcomes in addition to how the current administration is affecting U.S. Middle East policy.

This study by Kaz Rahman takes a new look at how we position Islamic Art- how it in fact embodies, exemplifies and invents many aspects of Modernism in Painting and Architecture and how it relates to Film.
Looking back at 24 years of fiction writing, storytelling, and psychodrama work, Elmougy will review intersections among her tracks of work. She has come to realize that everything she does carries with it the spirit of resistance. In her talk, she will explain what she means by “resistance,” and what it is like to be on this journey at this particular moment in Egypt’s history.
